The Victorian Jockeys’ Association is the representative body for registered jockeys and former jockeys in Victoria.
The purpose of the VJA is to ensure that the industry conditions and support enable jockeys to have safe, productive, and sustainable careers in the racing industry.
The VJA is administered by two full-time employees, the Chief Executive Officer, an Operations Officer, along with some office support and a part-time Past Riders’ Support Officer. The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors comprises of Riding Directors, the Chief Executive Officer, and a number of Independent Directors appointed by the Riding Directors. The Riding Directors are in place to represent the collective views of all members. The Independent Directors are appointed to provide guidance in specialist areas such as legal, strategy, and health and safety. Only the Riding Directors have voting rights.
